Pixel Addicts Motion Graphics Department is here to guide our clients through both the Design and Production process, having created and produced product launches, image campaigns, show openers, original content for corporate events, and on-air promotions for clients such as British Telecom, Ross Lovegrove, MTV and QTV.

Specializing in the “Design Driven Creative Package”, Pixel Addicts’s Directors and Artists use animation, visual effects and live action to collaborate with clients, from concept to delivery, producing work that is visceral, innovative, and diverse.

Our creative solutions are met through a co-operative process with our clients whilst constantly challenging ourselves to develop great images and unforgettable visuals ensuring that the brand and concept are brought to life to its fullest potential.

Project: Stolichnaya Vodka Event
Client: Blonstein & Accociates
Description: We were charged with creating bespoke visuals that represented the Stoli branding and heritage while maintaining a close relationship to the soundtrack we were provided with. This animation is showing 1 minute of a 3 minute pitch.

Description: We were asked to model and animate BT’s new line of mobile phones for their general on-line release. This is just a snipet of the animation moves that we produced that were later incorporated into web movies.

Description: Globe Trotter approached us to create a animation based on the prototype of their new suitcase designed by Ross Lovegrove. We animated the suitcase and composed the soundtrack in-house at Pixel Addicts, and the resulting film will be shown at Selfidges for the product launch.

Addict Media Server

Pixel Addicts are proud to present the Addict Server the worlds first user friendly, re-programmable media server using the Salvation AV engine. The system features a purpose built media controller with motorised faders, a quick scan jog wheel and T-Bar and a toughened 19″ touch screen. The unique tactile control surfaces enable the user to quickly navigate through the dedicated pages of the interface which are tailored to the users natural workflow. The user is able to see and design all aspects of their event or show in the visualiser before, during and after the event in real time. These features combined with node-based re-programmability make it the most flexible media server on the market.

The user reprogrammable engine within the Addict Server has the capacity to control multiple HD/PAL outputs, output custom aspect ratio footage, map/warp any 3D surface (Architectural Video Mapping), provide audio reactive content, Master / slave to other Addict servers or DMX based show control systems, control moving head projectors, playback any media format & synchronise to time code input.
The Addict Server is the production solution to create immersive AVL (Audio, Video & Lighting) environments, giving you ultimate creative freedom with the technical capability to fully synchronise and control all aspects of your event production.

Over 50 of the video effects made & used by inside-us-all in their live performances are now packaged for purchase by any video dude who fancies twiddling them. The pack is now avaiable for OSX & XP/Vista. Supported by the following live video performance tools & compositing packages compatible with freeframe.

To purchase the latest plugin pack please paypal €75 [euros] to plugins@inside-us-all.com and state which version you require, OSX or XP/VIsta. Once payment is recieved your personal download url will be promptly mailed to you.

Bear in mind each plugin has multiple adjustable parameters which can be attached to a variety of input methods. Once you’ve installed the plugins you decide what the effect does, so these are just previews of some of the possibilities.

FlowerTastic

Turn your live video into flowers, over 25 beautiful plants & flowers from around the world have been coded into this plugin. Full on Flower Power! Click the image on the right for a full res preview.

Addictive TV II

The only slight draw back with the origional Addictive TV effect was it was only single channel. So we made a version which supports multi channel input, although at the moment the multi channel mixer effects are PC only. Click the image on the right for a full res preview.

Fully Customizable Hex Mask System

Anyone sick of 4:3? Using a combination of 4 Freeframe effects Inside-us-all have expanded on the previous fixed layout hexagon screen effects. Now the user can use multi channel mixing of up to 10 hexagons of any size in any layout. Click here for an example pic from a show

Binarise

Turn your video into digital data. The matrix has turned the digital data stream into a huge cliche’. But we still feel the conversion of video into a digital data stream has conceptual mileage in this digital age we live in. We are confident this effect is going to be different enough to not make the viewer scream “arrrgh not more matrix!” Click the image on the right for a full res preview.

PanelTastic

Flipping panels which reveal the image as they spin. Its possible to configure the panel size, mix mode and spin speed. See below for details of the multi channel version which flips between two input images.

Fully Customizable Circle Mask System

Another opportunity for the user to break away from 4:3. Inside-us-all have been performing with various screen shapes for many years using this plugin to distribute the image data around the screens.

Meta Mix

We were asked many times to make a plugin which allowed the user to insert a 2nd channel of video into the meta image technique we exploit in many of our plugins. Its finally possible with this mixer effect.

Panel Mixer

Flipping panels which reveal the 2nd input image as they spin. This is a mixer effect version of the Paneltastic effect described above.

Old Film

A much requested plugin which takes an input image and uses configurable Scratches, Dust, Vignettes & Colour effects to make an old style film look.. Think 16mm, 8mm etc.

Dominoe Slider

I think we nicked this idea from the title sequence to ‘Dominoe’ hence the dodgy name. Its possible to configure the size of the ‘dominoes’, the position, the mix mode & the density.

Rect Random

This idea was inspired by a certain phone companies recent ad’s with a montage of facial phone cam shots stuck together. Its an enhancement of the previous Rect Field effect with the addition of a zoom factor for the rectangles.

Hexagonalise

More hexagons.. We’re still pushing the hexagonalism movement!

Dominoes

Similar to Dominoe Slider and Rect Field, think of it as a cross between the two effects. Its also possible to configure the mix mode which allows the whole input image to be slotted into each dominoe.

Moleculize II

Turn your splodge into molecules - a meta image style effect but with the individual molecules animated, works well in combination with Colour Persist from the v1.7 plugin pack.

Aero Bubbles

Inspired by the Aero ad campaign in the UK, this filter turns video into bubbles. Probably our favourite effect of all time! There are many settings for different types of bubbles including 3D bubbles, glowing bubbles & flat outlined circles, etc.

Rebelle

Simulating the now legendary video sync adjusting unit, the rebelle. This plugin was made during the AVit US conference in 2003 with the guidance of noise enthusiast & multiple rebelle owner levLhed.

Lego

How many of us used to play for hours with lego bricks when we were young? I used to be addicted to the stuff, with that addiction still burning away i decided to create a filter that turns video into lego.

Hex Map

After we made ‘Hex Elements’ [see below] we had many requests for a version without the periodic table notation. So here it is, turn your video into hexagons. Did someone mention the hexagonalism movement?

Aero Cubes

After ‘Aero Bubbles’ we decided we had to do cubes too for those of us with a preference for sharp edge, clean looking visuals, this one comes out really nicely, and also utilises a good range of adjustable parameters for overlay modes and Cube/Square types.

Scanner

Inspired by high tech robotic scanning effects seen in films like terminator, this effect scans the scene whilst zooming in and out and taking readings. imagine the effect with live crowd footage. As used recently by APT visuals on tour with Def Leopard.

Pixelate

Creates a TV close up type effect, similar to TV Pixel in vegas 5 & 6.

Hex Elements

The periodic table was the stuff of nightmares at school, but if you want to give your video a scientific looking edge, inserting a few hexagonal periodic table elements might just do the trick.

Beat Swap & 1/2/4 Bar Swap

4 mixer plugins which swap between layers at between 51 & 149 BPM either on the beat or on 1/2/4 bar intervals of a 4 bar beat [input mix at 1 = 51 BPM
& 99 = 149BPM].

Persist

Similar to frame echo, except infinite echo is possible without any slow down.

Edge Enhance

A standard technique with a bit of a twist, gives some really nice effects with a bit of tweaking.

Moleculize

Another scientific style one except this time its illustrative molecular structures which take the colour and shape of the video.

Frame Echo

Inspired by the after effects plugin ‘echo’ although optimised for performance. This filter draws the active frame with a configurable history of previous frames, giving a nice trail effect.

Rect Field

The popularity of interacting & overlayed layers has recently been very high in motion graphics. Heres a filter which automates and randomizes that layering.

Interlace Distort

Another distortion effect, simulates re-filmed TV style interlacing with an adjustable scrolling speed, intensity, size & direction. good fun when attached to a beat or a midi knob.

Grid

A configurable pitch & intensity grid. great for re-introducing a sharp tech edge to a low res or badly compressed video.

PinP

Zoom in and and pan around an image, great for focusing on mullets & beards

ESP

Extra Screen Position - like picture in picture except with a lateral stretch. We use it to position a ’seperate screen’ infront of a DJ booth/artist’s table when it overlaps the screen.

Split Screen

Divides the screen into top half or bottom half, enables you to use 2 screens stacked vertically on top of each other as one big screen if using two synced sources.

Quad Display

Takes a normal [4:3] video input and divides it into the correct format for a 4 screen video wall controller [16:3]. configured in a row of 4 screens. with a parameter to adjust vertical sample position.

Multi Scroll

Designed for a 4 screen video wall controller, enables the content to be scrolled laterally across the 4 screen output. please note, output is paused in the demo video for ease of illustration.

Side Scroller

Designed to slide video content off the screen in either direction and simultaneously in from the other side. This is great for multi screen installations as it can make the canvas of a repeated output look like one big image.

Auto Invert

A simple invert except it doesn’t invert if the resultant image is mostly white. Stops those ugly white outs on an inverted image with varied content.

The Pixel Addicts installation portfolio has developed quickly through their excelled commitment, creative freedom and technical knowledge.
Their continued design solutions which avoid standard aspect ratio screens and surfaces inspired the team to produce the addict media server, now distributed by Pixel Addicts worldwide.

matter music venue - 02 Arena, London

Pixel Addicts were commissioned to design the permanent video installation for London’s newest live music venue, opening on the 18th September 2008. Inside-us-all were honored with a 1 year VJ residency. The system will be controlled via the new Addict media server. More details coming very soon..

Marrying the sound, the architectural lighting, mood lighting and the intense 360 degree visuals into one is unique as far as we know. The Addict media server [x2 machines] was the show control for this installation designed by Todd Graft [Microchunk]. The installation will be a 5yr project for the Eden club in Ibiza. The installation used Chi-Spheres & projection solutions.

Pixel Addicts designed the main room production for the exclusive album launch for the UK band Younger Brother. Mark Calvert [Pixel Addicts] designed the show, working closely with Ralph Lambert [Pixel Addicts] for the video performance and event narrative, with all technical solutions coming from Dave Green [Pixel Addicts]. The installation went on to be voted in the top 10 most innovative installations for 2008.

Press Release 2008 [September]:
Since October 2007 the inside-us-all [IUA] VJ team has had unprecedented success. Constantly developing and improving their varied portfolio Mark Calvert, Dave Green and Ralph Lambert have continued their focus to push the boundaries of immersive visual impact in their shows, festivals, venues and unique corporate events. Alongside the constant touring of international VJ gigs including Italy, Hungary, Japan, Portugal, Spain and Ukraine, IUA have given a successful birth to their new company Pixel Addicts.

Being invited from an early stage to Europe’s most advanced music venue – matter, at the O2 Arena [London], the Pixel Addicts team have developed a unique 360-degree permanent video installation for the main space using the minimalist architecture of the venue as their canvas. IUA’s VJ residency which will utilize this installation begins with the opening event on 18th September 2008. The venue will attract the highest profile artists and promoters from around the world, week in week out.

Alongside this futuristic and recently described as ‘29th century permanent work’ [Time-out, London] inside-us-all have managed, produced and performed productions with Dissonanze Festival [Booka Shade / Erol Atkin / Model 500 / Carl Craig], Shpongle [Live European debut], Secret Garden Festival [Grace Jones / Morcheeba / Saint-Etienne], Smirnoff Cabaret UK Tour [OKGO / Goose / Kissy Sell Out], Ninja Tunes [London Label Party], Alpha Omega Indoor Dance Festival [Annie Nightingale / Ace Ventura / Ils] to add to this their impressive festival circuit has seen them as continued residents with Glade, Loop, Glastonbury the list goes on and on.

Keeping their passionate environmental roots and message very close to their work the IUA team continues to support international charities and grass roots projects, working with Greenpeace throughout the year with the highlights being Stop Runway 5 public campaign, Glastonbury Festival [Greenpeace Field] and Old Billingsgate Market Save-Fish Conference. IUA also continue their close relationship with fringe projects such as the Events4Change, Luminopolis [former Synergy Project] and Firelfy [Solar Solutions for events].

One of the team’s main focuses from the last year has been the development of the Addict Media Server, their very own touch screen user-friendly reprogrammable media server. The server is soon to be launched at Plasa 2008 [UK] and features as show control in matter [02], Museum of Ulster [Belfast], and most of the high profile IUA VJ bookings and events worldwide. Pixel Addicts will distribute worldwide the Addict from September 2008.

Work for the team in the coming months will be dominated by their passion for immersive environments, working with permanent and semi-permanent installations, performance and conceptual projects the team will be working internationally on some exciting educational and inspirational productions, shows and environments.
